The federal government of Nigeria recently issued a
directive to medical doctors across the country to henceforth treat all
patients and victim of gunshot injuries without any form of restrain or
inhibition. The truth is the truth no matter who says it and where it was said. I just got this information and it is very important that it is shared for proper sensitization but some things are still missing in that respect.
The press may not be too interested in sharing this kind of information but without other means, you can share this post to educate someone of the right he/she has over some inhumane attitude

The Nigerian health minister made this known to the public
while giving the order at the induction ceremony of foreign graduates,
organized by medical and Dental Council Of Nigeria (MDCN)
“Hospitals are sanctuary for the sick and injured, never must our hospitals be closed for whatever reasons; even in war time situations, hospital must remain open. Doctors must show no restraint in treating emergencies, even with gun-shot wounds you must treat them, thereafter raise questions. You must also treat emergencies before asking for money because life is more precious than money,” the minister stated.

What Do We Stand To Gain In This Order
This particular order, by the president is termed human
oriented, as it has a focus on the right of even a dying bandit. We are meant
to know that even the criminals have the right to live. Nobody should be
condemned to death until a strong conviction by competence jurisdiction. This
matching order will guarantee the lives of so many helpless citizens in this
country. Yes! If it was forgotten in the past administrations, this has proven
the fact that we still have human minds in African government.
What Do You Think Is Missing
?
I thought as much as you just did. What about the ‘no deposits,
no treatment’ policy applied by Nigerian medical practitioners? Sometimes,
people die in hospitals because there was not Police Extract.
On our random tour
and inquiries, to ascertain peoples’ view on the nature and attitudes of
medical practitioners in Nigeria, this is what a student suggested:
We demand a situation where everybody, no matter the situation, should be given equal attention to medical care. If any is suspected to be in connection with an act that contradicts the law, the hospitals should, on their own instincts, honour the expertise of the law enforcement agencies; and not to deny or delay treatment.
Many other well-meaning
Nigerians, have lost the lives of dear friends, families and lover for their
inabilities to secure payment for deposits in hospitals. We are happy that President Buhari’s
administration has provided right to emergency treatments of gunshot casualties
but we still demand that our right to other emergency treatment without demands
for ‘initial deposits’
Please share if you agree with us on your right to be treated without delays.
