It was business as usual but later became totally unusual;
over my contract to cover a wedding and traditional marriage ceremony. As a
cameraman, I normally negotiate my business before getting my crews set for the
deal, and the particular job was not an exception. The event was perceived to
be massive, so I had to get extra cameras to cover the full event. You must
understand that the negotiation was very promising, as he was not even after
the price. All he asked of was the assured quality of the images. I was not
able to see any of these people, because the deal was negotiated over the
phone. I had to believe that there is always ability in disability.
It was not my first day into the game but my experience
proved me wrong. I use to think that the power to hustle was only given to
those that claim being able. Sometime, you just have to see things yourself. My
cameramen were startled when a blind man appeared as the host but there was
already this default feeling I had for any disabled-it only takes the mind to
accept the state of the body. It was not a shock to me but when I saw the wife,
I had to pause and give the whole thing a second thought. She was just as sound
as you. Not blind in any form and has every good quality that could define an
endowed woman. I just had to continue with my job.

Normally, my duty was to cover the event but it was just too
exceptional to be left untold. I had to capture more clips for my readers. When
I was interviewing the blind groom, he revealed to me his hidden powers; his
ability to think on the opposite. He believes that he share equal opportunity
with everyone. He told our Magazine that all he needed in life was to
understand the he was made for a purpose. What marveled me most was that he has acquired
any academic position but manages to understand English Language. This led me into serous thoughts: Many are out
there with certain excuses on why they could not make it in life. Some have
given up in to the phase of these current economic challenges. It is no longer
news to hear that unemployment is on the increase but here is a man blind from
birth and now a breadwinner of his family, married with a beautiful wife and
has a sound profession, farming.
“I farm like every farmer, I use hoes the same way you use
them and I always expect something rich from my efforts, I believe God has a
purpose for my and that’s why I must let no challenge weigh me down” he added
I Don’t Know What
Your Take Is On This:
Some are really blinded with the stereotypes that you can
only succeed because you have all that it takes to be there. The big question
is: What does it really take to be there? For me, it only takes your mind, your
understanding that you can do it. It is a conventional fact that the disabled
are facing some sorts of marginalization, stigmatization and rejections. The
acclaimed social stigmatization are hereby disproved by the so-called blind,
who understands that his life is his responsibility.
I don’t know what your challenges may be. It depends on your
state of mind, your ability to stand against limitations and think positive
about the things yet to be see. It may be your academic challenges, family
background, emotional traumas, financial difficulties, or even your
deformations. Take time to compare your lives with those without life in them
