Two Teams From Lagos Selected To Pilot BBC Connected Studio Initiative

The BBC, as part of its Connected Studio and World Service initiative, has made the selection of two innovative teams from Lagos, Nigeria, to participate in her ongoing Connected studio objectives. The collaboration is in line with BBC's objectives to increase her media outreach to 500 million in the year 2020. Since the inception of the idea, which stimulated the first launch in Nairobi, Kenya, and South Africa, two pilots have successfully been developed and this is about to be built in Nigeria too.

About BBC Connected Studio
This is another innovative idea initiated by BBC to bring her staff closer to the wider Digital Phase. This was introduced in 2011 with about 60 individuals working on the ideas for BBC Homepage. Its now about 3 year of committed work and the project has spanned across 10 BBC Online products, from CBBC to Sports, delivering 27 Pilots, 8 of which are in the Production Pipeline- they have made notes on the TV sections, following successful collaborations with BBC Comedy and so many other features. There is a thought that this innovative idea will be the best answer to what the media will look like in the near future but it all depends on ends.

 The Selected Team
Earlier this year, the World service lab held a collaborative ideas workshop in Lagos. It was in partnership with Co-creative Hub and the aim was to generate ideas for the digital tools and products that will promote the distribution of BBC News to African Audience, and increase reach in ways that will be more relevant to the market. It was through this platform that these selected team. the selected team(s) will not only be paid to build this pilots, as they will also be awarded opportunities to further resources and skill development in  international levels.

They passed through series of processes but here is a brief summary of the stages: Submitted ideas were scored and shortlisted by a judging panel, and these shortlisted teams were asked to submit a further detailed plan and undergo a question and answer session with BBC experts. two among these four were selected for the project and here they are:

They(selected Teams)  expressed their joy,  pointed out their reasons and readiness to work for the best of Africans and BBC. See Image after the cut:
